When the zinc content is less than 35%, zinc can dissolve in copper to form a single-phase α, known as single-phase brass, which has good plasticity and is suitable for cold and hot pressure processing. When the zinc content is between 36% and 46%, there is an α single phase along with a β solid solution based on copper-zinc, known as dual-phase brass. The β phase reduces the plasticity of brass but increases the tensile strength, making it only suitable for hot pressure processing. If the zinc mass fraction continues to increase, the tensile strength decreases, rendering it useless. The code is represented by "H + number", where H stands for brass, and the number indicates the mass fraction of copper.
